How to bandage a cat's back?

he had a cyst removed and although the incision has healed, i think the re-growing hair is itching him. he doesn't scratch, he licks at his shoulderblades, causing raw abrasions. i put a pet vest on him, but he has limited mobility with it on. but if i put a simple bandaid on, he scratches or pulls it off...
