Is there any research on afterlife?

Can anyone tell me if anyone is doing anything to try and see if their is an after-life? I'm 13 years old and im scared shitless about dieing because i stay up late at night and think: 'What if theirs nothing.. I can't stop my death. it's going to happen and theirs nothing i can do. " I am REALLY scared and i need to know, isn't anyone trying to see if their is or isn't!?
